Sumako Aotsuki (蒼月 須磨子 Aotsuki Sumako), before marriage Sumako Hizaki (日崎 須磨子 (ひざき すまこ), is the third third generation keeper of Hakumen no Mono who imprisons the 9-Tailed Fox with her barrier, the wife of Shigure Aotsuki and the mother of Ushio Aotsuki.
During her time as Hakumen's jailer, Sumako had a vision of a son she would have who would be the Chosen Wielder of the Beast Spear. She was allowed freedom for 2 years, during which she met and married Shigure and she had his son. Sadly, she was forced to leave them and she return to her sacred duty that she never got to be with her son.
Appearance[]
Sumako is a beautiful pale-skinned young woman with long black hair, greenish brown eyes and she facially resembles her son.
Personality[]
As being the gatekeeper of the strongest creature, Sumako is very calm-natured woman who does not lose her mind.
Plot[]
Sumako was the next to succeed Ji Mei, because she lived in poverty she immediately accepted her role as guardian of Hakumen no Mono, maintaining the barrier that would seal it for centuries.
Later, Ji Mei's spirit visited her and Sumako told her about a dream she had in which she became a wife and mother and the son she had was the bearer of the Spear of the Beast.
Power & Abilities[]
Barrier Creation: As the gatekeeper of the Hakumen no Mono, she is able to create barrier to restraint Hakumen no Mono from rampaging and also stop others youkai attack Hakumen no Mono (As seen in all the scenes she meditates to keep the barrier strong).

- The name Sumako means "ought, by all means, necessarily" (須) (su), "polish" (磨) (ma) and "child" (子) (ko).
- Sumako's current surname Aotsuki means "blue, pale" (蒼) (ao) and "moon" (月) (tsuki).
